MSPZero
The umbrella for five independent, MIT-licensed, self-hosted tools for MSPs and IT teams: ClientSt0r, OPNMGR, Depl0y, St0r, and Rem0te. A collection of separate projects, not one more application.
The problem
A managed service provider’s tool stack is mostly subscriptions: documentation, service desk, firewall management, infrastructure, backups, and remote access — each priced per technician or per device, each holding the MSP’s data.
Why existing tools fell short
Commercial MSP tools are usually priced per technician or per device and hold the MSP’s data on the vendor’s servers; switching means replacing several of them at once.
The solution
MSPZero publishes five independent tools that an MSP can run on its own servers. They don’t depend on each other; an MSP can adopt one without replacing tools that already work. Each has its own case study:
<a href="/portfolio/clientst0r">ClientSt0r</a> (documentation and service desk), <a href="/portfolio/opnmgr">OPNMGR</a> (OPNsense firewall fleets), <a href="/portfolio/depl0y">Depl0y</a> (Proxmox and server hardware), <a href="/portfolio/st0r">St0r</a> (UrBackup management), and <a href="/portfolio/rem0te">Rem0te</a> (remote support portal).
- Five independent tools — use one, several, or all five
- All MIT-licensed and self-hosted, with no paid tier
- Public source code on GitHub
- Optional paid setup and hosting from MSP Reboot
Engineering involved
Each tool is a separate codebase; see the individual case studies for verified architecture details.
- Licensing
- All five tools are MIT-licensed with public source on GitHub.
- Stacks
- Django/Python (ClientSt0r), plain PHP 8 (OPNMGR), FastAPI with Vue 3 (Depl0y), Express with React (St0r), and NestJS with Next.js (Rem0te).
- Deployment
- Self-hosted on Ubuntu/Debian with install scripts and systemd; ClientSt0r also supports Docker Compose.
What makes it interesting
Five tools, five different stacks — from plain PHP behind a firewall agent to a NestJS/Prisma monorepo with a Tauri desktop launcher and a Go installer for remote support. Each one is still a complete product: installer, authentication, encryption of stored secrets, and documentation.
Outcome
Measured Across the five repositories, as of 10 October 2026: 173 GitHub stars, 29 forks, and 262 published releases. These measure public interest and release activity, not installations.
Current status
Open Source An umbrella for several separate projects, not an application of its own.
All five tools are open source and actively maintained. Setup and hosting are available from MSP Reboot as a paid service; the software itself has no paid tier.
