Depl0y

Proxmox infrastructure and server hardware management in one dashboard: many clusters and hosts in one view, Dell iDRAC and HPE iLO health over Redfish, VM provisioning with cloud-init, and VM import.

The problem

Running Proxmox across several sites means a separate login per cluster, and the hypervisor UI says nothing about the physical servers underneath — failing disks, temperatures, firmware, or power state live in yet another interface.

Why existing tools fell short

The Proxmox interface manages one cluster per login and doesn’t show server hardware health; vendor hardware tools don’t show the virtualization layer.

The solution

Depl0y registers many Proxmox clusters and standalone hosts in one view, and polls server management controllers (Dell iDRAC and HPE iLO) for health, temperature, power, and firmware inventory. It adds a create-VM wizard with cloud images and cloud-init, VM import, and an optional local-LLM deployment wizard. It sits next to the Proxmox interface rather than replacing it.

  • Multi-cluster dashboard, topology graph, and VM metrics
  • Dell iDRAC and HPE iLO hardware health, inventory, and power control
  • Create-VM wizard with cloud images and cloud-init
  • VM import from OVA/OVF, VMDK, VHD, QCOW2, or ESXi/vCenter
  • Admin, operator, and viewer roles with TOTP and an audit log

Engineering involved

Verified from the public repository: README, dependency manifests, and source files.

Backend
FastAPI with SQLAlchemy and Alembic migrations; APScheduler for background polling; rate limiting with slowapi.
Front end
Vue 3 with Pinia, Vue Router, Vite, Chart.js, and Leaflet.
Integrations
The Proxmox API (proxmoxer), VMware (pyvmomi) for imports, SSH (paramiko), and a Redfish client for iDRAC and iLO.
Authentication & authorization
JWT sessions, bcrypt hashing, TOTP, and admin/operator/viewer roles with an audit log.
Security
Stored infrastructure credentials are Fernet-encrypted.
Deployment
Install script with systemd and Nginx on Ubuntu/Debian; SQLite on a single host.

What makes it interesting

Older iDRAC 7/8 and iLO 3/4 controllers only speak TLS settings that modern OpenSSL refuses. Depl0y includes a custom TLS adapter that re-enables legacy renegotiation for just those connections, so aging — but still common — hardware can be monitored alongside new servers.

Outcome

Measured Public GitHub figures as of 10 October 2026: 32 stars, 5 forks, and 52 published releases since the repository was created in November 2025. Stars and forks show public interest, not active installations — the project doesn’t collect usage data.

Current status

Open Source Free, MIT-licensed, self-hosted. The source code is public on GitHub.

Open source under the MIT license and actively released. The firmware check is Dell-only, and it runs on a single host without high availability.
